Study Finds: Every Euro Invested in the Cash System Generates Almost Three Euros in Societal Value
A new independent, scientifically led study has, for the first time, quantified the economic and societal value of cash in monetary terms. Based on a representative survey, the research estimates that the positive effects generated by cash are equivalent to approximately 1.2% of Germany's GDP, or around €54 billion, while the costs of providing and maintaining the cash infrastructure amount to approximately 0.45% of GDP.

Payment Tokenization Goes Mainstream: G+D Manages 1.4 Billion Tokens
Online card payments are increasingly processed using tokens rather than card numbers. For card issuers, this shift creates a new operational requirement: They must provision and manage tokens across multiple payment networks throughout the entire token lifecycle. Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) operates one of the largest cross-network token infrastructures in Europe to address this challenge.

G+D Advances Quantum-Safe Identity Solutions in European Research Project uPQComing
SecurityTech company Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) is contributing its expertise to the European research project uPQComing (“Enhancing Cyber-Resilience for the upcoming Post-Quantum era”) and developing technologies for the next generation of quantum-safe identity cards. The project, funded by the Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU), aims to prepare critical digital infrastructure for the challenges of the quantum era and to accelerate the transition to post-quantum cryptography (PQC) in security-relevant applications.
