HanseCom Forum 2024 – Platform for International Exchange

Hamburg, Germany, 10 September 2024 – The 10th anniversary of the HanseCom Forum held on 21 and 22 November in Hamburg will bring together mobility industry decision-makers from the DACH region and from across the globe for the first time. Under the banner of “JUMP! Into Next-Gen Mobility”, the event offers a platform for the cross-national exchange of experiences on key topics related to digitizing public transport sales.

In addition to top-tier speakers from Germany, such as Christine Wolburg, Head of Marketing & Sales at Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG), Frank Niggemeier-Oliva, Managing Director of Bahnen der Stadt Monheim (BSM), and Benjamin Bock, Authorized Signatory and Member of the Management Board of Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund (KVV), the 10th HanseCom Forum will bring together a wealth of international expertise. Leading off the event, Alexandra Reinagl, Vice President of the UITP and Managing Director of Wiener Linien, will take a look at the challenges posed by the mobility transition in her keynote speech. Later on the first day of the forum, managers from the Lawton Area Transit System (LATS) in Lawton, Oklahoma, will give an overview of the requirements and challenges of public transport in the USA and explain how they inspire customers to use shared mobility. Next up is Alok Jain, CEO and Managing Director of the consulting firm TRANS-Consult, who will provide examples of how new concepts and technologies for shared mobility are improving the quality of life in urban areas around the world.

Kevin Ward from Nottingham City Transport will talk about the trending topic of account-based ticketing, discussing optimized payment options that bring ease to traveling by bus. On the second day of the event, the management team of the Cascais Transport Department in Portugal will give detailed insights into the measures they have taken to make public transport in their municipality more attractive, more environmentally friendly and, in some cases, even free of charge. Under the moderation of Ulrich Sieg, former CEO of Hamburger Hochbahn and Chairman of the Advisory Board of HanseCom, the panel discussion on the second day of the conference will once again feature top-class speakers such as Anna-Theresa Korbutt, Managing Director of Hamburger Verkehrsverbund (HVV), Tim Dahlmann-Resing, CEO of Verkehrs-AG Nürnberg (VAG), and Ingo Wortmann, President of the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV). The panel will discuss current trends and challenges in the mobility industry.

“The HanseCom Forum has established itself as a central platform for the exchange of ideas in public transport in the DACH region. This year, we are raising the forum to an international level for the first time: speakers and participants will have the opportunity to talk directly with experts from various countries to discuss new ideas and best practices,” emphasizes Sebastian Neil Hölken, Managing Director of HanseCom. “We all face the same challenge across the globe: to make the transport transition happen in order to achieve our social and climate goals. The HanseCom Forum provides an ideal framework for learning from each other and taking away new ideas for our own projects.”

Due to its international orientation, the event will be held bilingually for the first time, both in German and English. All contributions will be simultaneously translated into the other language.
