Mit der Vorstellung der Developer Preview von OpenShift im Mai 2011 startete Red Hat auch ein Partnerprogramm. Dessen Ziel ist der Aufbau eines vielfältigen Partnersystems, das die hohen Anforderungen von PaaS-Entwicklern aufgreift und dabei auch das Know-how und die Erfahrungen des Partnersystems von Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization und JBoss Enterprise Middleware nutzt. In den letzten eineinhalb Jahren hat Red Hat sehr eng mit seinen Partnern zusammengearbeitet und bei Kunden eine Reihe produktiver Lösungen implementiert. Mit dem Update des OpenShift-Partnerprogramms greift Red Hat neue Anforderungen von Kunden und die technischen Weiterentwicklungen bei PaaS auf.

Die Zertifizierungsstufen des erweiterten OpenShift-Partnerprogramms im Überblick:

* Community Partner: Die Erstellung einer Community Cartridge ist der Ausgangspunkt für Partner, die sich mit OpenShift befassen wollen; eine Cartridge ist ein Konfigurationstemplate oder ein Skript, mit denen OpenShift erweitert werden kann. In einer ausführlichen Beschreibung hat Red Hat die einzelnen Schritte für die Erstellung einer Cartridge auf Basis des Open-Source-OpenShift-Projekts zusammengestellt. Ziel dieser Zertifizierungsstufe ist es, Interesse an OpenShift zu wecken und Partner beim Aufbau zusätzlicher Qualifikationen zu unterstützen.

* Certified Partner: Diese Programmstufe baut auf dem erworbenen Community-Partner-Know-how auf und ermöglicht Entwicklern, neue Märkte zu erschließen. Certified Partner erhalten einen Zugang zu Unternehmen, die bereits OpenShift einsetzen und können diesen zusätzliche OpenShift-Lösungen anbieten. Zielgruppe dieser Programmstufe sind Partner, deren Portfolio die OpenShift-PaaS-Funktionalität ergänzt und erweitert – Beispiele dafür sind Middleware, Development Frameworks, integrierte Entwicklungsumgebungen, Management-Tools und Möglichkeiten zur Datenspeicherung. Die Angebote der Partner können direkt mit OpenShift laufen, entweder online oder mit OpenShift Enterprise, aber auch als gehosteter Service, der über APIs mit OpenShift verbunden ist, zur Verfügung gestellt werden.

* Powered by OpenShift Partner: Adressaten dieser Programmstufe sind Partner, die mit OpenShift ihre eigenen Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)-Applikationen und Produkte anbieten. Sie können ihre Lösungen optimal auf die OpenShift-Roadmap abstimmen. Zertifizierte Partner können den OpenShift-Online-Service unter openshift.redhat.com und darüber hinaus auch die Vorteile von OpenShift Enterprise nutzen.
