Veridos provides contactless access control systems for Munich Security Conference

Berlin, February 14, 2024 – For the fifth year in a row, Veridos is providing innovative access control technology for the Munich Security Conference, which will take place at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof from February 16 to 18, 2024. In addition to convenient walk-through portals, the security concept includes the latest generation of access cards. A specially developed app for smartphones is also available as an option.

This year’s Munich Security Conference (MSC) is the 60th time that high-ranking decision-makers from numerous sectors, will come together with scientists, security experts and journalists. The renowned event is regarded as one of the most important platforms for the discussion of global political issues such as international conflicts, crises and defense, cyber security and digital threats, as well as humanitarian challenges, human rights and international cooperation.

As in previous years, the MSC relies on the powerful, modern eAccess system from Veridos, a joint venture between Bundesdruckerei and Giesecke+Devrient, to identify participants. At the heart of the system is a walk-through portal, which offers conference visitors contactless access control with the highest level of security. The access cards, which are manufactured by G+D from environmentally friendly materials, are equipped with high-security NXP chips and RFID technology and can be safely read from a distance. A single step through the portal is enough to ensure automatic verification of registration and access authorization. In addition, event badges can be checked using smartphones with a dedicated Veridos app that provides security personnel with the image of the attendee for manual verification. The access cards, which are equipped with numerous cryptographic and biometric security features, can only be read by authorized devices. Once again, Veridos partner NXP Semiconductors is responsible for the security and communication chips.

„The advanced access control system from Veridos and NXP Semiconductors underlines our claim and commitment to combine the highest security standards with state-of-the-art technology,“ explains Marc-Julian Siewert, CEO of Veridos. „We are creating the right technological framework for the Munich Security Conference and offering participants a secure and convenient solution“.
