CGI and AXSOL to ensure NATO’s energy superiority

CGI and AXSOL, a leading manufacturer of stationary and mobile power storage solutions, announced their partnership at this year’s NATO Edge conference in Brussels in the area of “deployable IT combining power and energy components.”

Jens Elstermeier, Senior Vice President, Head of Defence and Intelligence at CGI and AXSOL Managing Director Jürgen Zinecker, signed the contract on site. The goal of both companies is to enrich NATO’s IT systems supporting military command and control processes (so-called command and control systems) with sensor data from mobile components for power generation.

In military operations, information superiority has so far been the key to mission success. In the future, another parameter will be even more important: Energy superiority, which is already an essential component of operations command. By integrating this data, the partners will offer military commanders the ability to make a prediction about the durability of operating materials such as batteries from energy hubs, or mobile power storage solutions. This type of energy forecast for all equipment and vehicles is a world first.

Through the cooperation between CGI and AXSOL, military decision-makers will in future have a full common operational picture of the energy situation at all times during a mission.

A spokesperson from CGI is available for more information and interview requests.
