ANNIVERSARY: PR-COM, TOSHIBA AND KIOXIA CELEBRATE 20 YEARS OF PR COLLABORATION
Munich, May 11, 2023 – Two decades is a long time, especially in the fast-moving IT industry. But that’s exactly how long Toshiba Electronics Europe’s memory division has been relying on PR-COM’s knowledge, experience and contacts for its PR work. Since 2019, the Munich-based communications agency has also been supporting KIOXIA Europe GmbH, the inventor of flash memory, which emerged from Toshiba Memory Europe.
20 years ago, the Concorde flew for the last time. The German President was Johannes Rau, and stores in Germany were recently allowed to open until 8 p.m. on Saturdays. Smartphones as we know them today were still a long way off, because IT was primarily the PC. At that time, the devices still contained hard disks with a capacity of only a few dozen gigabytes.
At that time also the long and successful co-operation between the memory division of Toshiba Electronics Europe and PR-COM began. At the beginning the Munich communication agency organized only the non removable disk test positions for the media and seized test reports and product evaluations. Quickly however further tasks were added, among them the classical PR work approximately around non removable disks and Flash memory as well as the support on fairs and other large meetings and with product presentations.
PR-COM accompanied Toshiba Electronics Europe from the slim mobile hard drives of the early 2000s to the current enterprise drives with 20 terabytes. And even in the flash business, which was still in its infancy 20 years ago and which today supplies modern storage solutions for smartphones, PCs and data centers, the agency has always stood by the company with advice and support. It was therefore only natural that the flash memory division – formerly Toshiba Memory Europe – would remain loyal to PR-COM as an independent company under the new name KIOXIA Europe from 2019.
“The question of whether we should look for a new agency as KIOXIA Europe did not arise at all, because PR-COM has always looked after us with passion and commitment all these years,” emphasizes Sandrine Aubert, Senior Manager Marketing Communications at KIOXIA Europe. “It’s impossible to imagine KIOXIA Europe without PR-COM, and it shows the value of a long-standing and very well-functioning collaboration.”
