Red Hat, der weltweit führende Anbieter von Open-Source-Lösungen, gab heute bekannt, dass Alcatel-Lucent, ein führendes Unternehmen bei der Migration von Telekommunikationsunternehmen in die Cloud, ab sofort die Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform als Fundament der NFV-Lösung CloudBand von Alcatel-Lucent verwendet. Die Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform basiert auf Red Hat Enterprise Linux und der Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM).

NFV-Lösungen nutzen Virtualisierungstechnologie, um verschiedene Netzwerkkomponenten auf Industriestandard-Servern, Switches und Storagesystemen zu konsolidieren. Technologien von Red Hat werden jetzt zu einem konstitutiven Bestandteil der CloudBand NFV Platform von Alcatel-Lucent. CloudBand bietet neue Möglichkeiten für das Design, die Implementierung und die Verwaltung von Networking Services und unterstützt flexible Netzwerkinfrastrukturen wie sie für komplexe Cloud-Applikationen und -Services benötigt werden.

Alcatel-Lucent setzt die Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform für das Management der CloudBand Nodes ein. Dabei handelt es sich um ein schlüsselfertiges All-in-One-, Server-, Storage- und Netzwerksystem, das zusammen mit anderen OpenStack-fähigen Nodes über Schnittstellen zum CloudBand Management System verfügt.

Red Hat trägt durch sein Engagement in neuen Upstream-OpenStack-Projekten entscheidend zu einer schnellen und für alle Beteiligten offenen Innovation bei. Auch dies war ein wichtiges Auswahlkriterium. Eine weitere Rolle bei der Zusammenarbeit beider Unternehmen spielte das CloudBand Ecosystem Program von Alcatel-Lucent sowie das ISV-Partnerprogramm von Red Hat, in dem Alcatel-Lucent den Status eines Premier Partners hat.

Darüber hinaus profitiert der Alcatel-Lucent CloudBand Node von der Partnerschaft zwischen Red Hat und Nuage Networks, der auf Software-Defined Networking (SDN) spezialisierten Unternehmensbeteiligung von Alcatel-Lucent. Nuage Networks bietet einen einheitlichen, automatisch installierbaren Stack, bestehend aus Nuage SDN, der Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform, virtuellem Speicher sowie Management-Tools.

Die Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform basiert auf dem zehnjährigen Engagement von Red Hat beim Aufbau eines branchenführenden Partner-Ecosystems für Rechen-, Speicher- und Netzwerkressourcen, die eine höchstmögliche Kompatibilität von OpenStack-Lösungen für den Einsatz in Unternehmen bieten. Beginnend mit der Einführung des Red Hat OpenStack Cloud Infrastructure Partner Networks im Frühjahr 2013 hat Red Hat das branchenweit umfangreichste Partnersystem zur Unterstützung von OpenStack in Unternehmen aufgebaut.
